Small Bio
Schooled in Austria, Kenya, matriculated at King Edward VII School in Johannesburg, BSc Geological Engineering 1979, BSc Mining Engineering 1982, MSc Geology 2016 (all at The University of the Witwatersrand).
First prize in Geology as best student in 1976, 1977 and 1978; first prize for best Mining Dissertation 1982 on forecasting the gold price using Kriging methods.
1983 to 1986: Worked in feasibility studies at Mogalakwena and production at Rustenburg Platinum Mines; achieved record mining production rates and development rates with zero fatalities in 4 years.
1987: Joined the sell side in as platinum and gold mining analyst.
Achieved 10 years No. 1 JSE Platinum sector Analyst FM Ratings and 4 years No. 1 in Small Caps.
Achieved best ever forecaster as analysed by a Cape Institution on supply and demand market balances of PGMs, on company earnings and on target prices achieved by PGM companies.
Joint best ever forecaster LBMA Precious Metals Forecast Survey with 7 first prizes by 2020.
2014: Established Sieberana Research.
Consults exclusively to a stockbroker on listed South African mining shares, in particular Platinum Group Metals and Gold.
Consults to international mining companies, wealth funds, hedge funds and Fund Managers on demand and supply of PGMs, recently focusing on palladium and rhodium market balances and also copper, nickel, cobalt, and vanadium.
Fellow of the Geological Society of SA, member of the SAIMM, Member of the SA Institute of Stockbrokers.
